About Epicentre

The Epicentre Project is an EU-Life funded programme involving Ireland, UK, Hungary, Germany and Spain. The Epicentre project has been developed by a collaborative partnership of organisations with expertise in the areas of EU based environmental projects on best practice, performance improvement, benchmarking and dissemination. The Epicentre partnership will form a European Economic Interest Group during the lifetime of the project.

Objectives

Epicentre will aim to support continuous improvement in environmental performance(EP) in organisations across the EU. The objectives of the project are to achieve :

  • 5 EMAS registrations
  • Develop innovative approaches and applications of the environmental performance evaluation model
  • Support knowledge and technology transfer from the more developed states to the less developed ones
  • Work with 250 organisations to develop a set of environmental performance indicators that can be used to support accession reporting, resource management, greenhouse gas emissions and regulatory controls on environmental reporting
  • Run 10 dissemination workshops with regional partners and 10 in other EU states

Epicentre will address the problems associated with ensuring continual EP improvement at organisational, institutional, national and international levels. It will also provide a reproducible and transferable framework by which EP trends and legislative/policy efficiencies and movements towards sustainability may be tracked and evaluated.
